In the Indian cuisine, Chhole Bhature is a popular dish that is usually consumed for breakfast or as a late night snack. The dish consists of fried chickpeas, potatoes and onions that are cooked in spicy curry sauce.

Chhole bhature is a typical punjabi recipe - it has two parts to it. The first part is the chhole - which is a spicy chickpea curry. And the second part is the bhatura - which are deep-fried leavened breads. The most common accompaniment for this meal is some raita, another typical punjabi dish, made with yogurt and cucumber or onion.

Chhole bhature is a Punjabi dish. It consists of boiled and deep-fried white chickpeas (chhole) and fried bread (bhatura).

While many people refer to it as ‘chole bhature’, the correct name is ‘chhole bhature’. This is because the dish has two main components - boiled (chhole) and deep-fried (bhatura) white chickpeas.

The chhole bhature originated in Punjab but now you can find it all over India. It’s mostly served with green coriander, onions, and chat masala. A typical side dish accompanying chhole bhature is lime pickle or tamarind chutney.

Extremely popular in North India, the chhole bhature is a spicy dish made of deep fried chana on a bed of bhatura.

Chhole bhature is made with a mixture of chickpeas, spiced with cumin, chilli powder and garam masala and flavored with ginger, green coriander and tomatoes. The dish is then cooked on low heat till the chickpeas are cooked through and their raw taste disappears.

The main ingredient behind this dish is the type of roti used which can be regular chapati or buttered bread. Spices such as garlic, ginger, pepper and more can also be added for variation to the flavour profile.

Chhole bhature is a popular Indian dish in North India and Punjab. It is a curry dish made with fried spicy chickpeas, potatoes and onion, coated with a semolina dough and then deep-fried.

The recipe includes the following ingredients:

Chhole:

- 2-3 cups of soaked Chickpeas

- 2 Bay Leaves

- 1 tsp Turmeric Powder

- 1 Red Chili Powder

- Salt to taste

Bhature:

- 5 cups of Semolina Flour/Patta Rice Flour (preferable) or Plain Flour (if you don’t have these)

- Salt to taste

- Water as required for kneading the dough
